A controlled destruction of the WTC by suicide bombers was not considered by the NIST – only a controlled demolition by professionals.

From the NIST-report, page XXXVIII, it appears that the NIST considered a controlled detonation, but only on the premise that it was done by people with a normal desire to survive:
NIST found no corroborating evidence for alternative hypotheses suggesting that the WTCtowers were brought down by controlled demolition using explosives planted prior to September 11, 2001
But how does NIST come up with the hypothesis that sabotage teams inside the towers wanted to do a job and then walk out of the sabotaged towers before 11.09.2001? Although it is clear that there were four teams of Terrorists which each hijacked an aircraft to commit suicide attacks?
The very obvious explanation was probably overlooked. If you assume sabotage teams inside the towers tasked to finish the destruction started by the planes, then the obvious assumption is that both inside the towers and in the planes were suicide attackers. And what should have prevented suicide bombers from distributing charges just after the impact of the respective aircraft, after the evacuation of the area below the impact point? Would not the planes have been the ideal means of camouflage? The ideal means to provoke an evacuation?

First blind spot of the NIST
Even if the conclusion of the NIST-Report is valid and planes could have brought down the towers of the World Trade Center – the Attackers did not know about this possibility. Naturally, the report was not available prior to the attacks. Prior to the attacks experts deemed any attempt fruitless to bring down the towers by the means of planes. (More on this reasoning)
Conclusion
Anyone interested in the causes of the collapse of the World Trade Center, should follow the trail of the companies which occupied the WTC. Who rented in after 1995?
